Recently I have been working on a marketing plan for a local hotel, here are some interesting points from that plan:
- The Internet has established itself as the main travel planning and booking channel.
- The Hyper-Interactive Travel Consumer has become your main customer.
- Engaging guests via Social Media is now a must.
- There is a growing demand for mobile travel services.
- There is a need to launch promotional campaigns simultaneously across all available marketing channels offline and online. SOURCE
Some other points to take note of:
- Canary Islands also showed Tourist arrivals gains of 12.9% in September 2010 over the same period in 2009, making the Canaries destination having the highest rate of change of the month. Source Inbound Tourism Survey (Frontur)

- Already about 25 percent of all smartphone users already reserve hotels, buy movie tickets and shop for travel needs online, according to statistics from Sempora Consulting in Germany.
